step-by-step video tutorials towards learning and mastering Adobe Illustrator CS4 -
even if you're a complete beginner! It is composed of 10 entertaining learning video tutorials.

Video 1 - An Introduction to Adobe Illustrator
CS4
This video will introduce you the different things available in the
Illustrator program, covering the latest upgrades and how this differs from previous versions of the software.
The video includes an outline of 'what’s new', details of the enriched workspace tools, the new drawing and
color tools and system requirements for the latest version of this software.
Video 2 - Customizing the Workspace
Video 2 covers the ways you can manage the windows and panels you
use and how you can customize a number of other functions and tools, including the following:
- Managing document windows
- Docking and undocking panels
- Moving, adding and removing panels
- Manipulate panel groups, stacking floating panels and resizing panels
- Manipulating panels collapsed to icons
- Renaming or duplicating a workspace and saving and switching
workspaces
Video 3 - Selecting and Arranging
Objects
During video 3, you'll be guided through the process of selecting and
arranging objects that you with to work with in Illustrator. This includes entering and exiting isolation
mode, isolating a path, object, or group, isolating a path inside a group, selecting objects using the
Layers panel, the Selection tool, the Lasso tool and the Magic Wand tool. You'll also cover group
selection, customizing the Magic Wand tool and selecting individual objects within a
group.
Video 4 - Drawing
Once you get to video four, you'll be ready to cover the
different ways you can draw using Illustrator and the tools available to help you with that process.
You'll learn about drawing simple lines and shapes including the following:
- Straight
lines - Rectangles and squares
- Ellipses
- Polygons
- Stars
- Arcs

Video 5 - Pencil and Tool
Path
Video five covers the ins and outs of drawing with the pencil
tool and how to successfully utilize this tool to draw freeform paths and closed paths with the
Pencil tool, how to edit paths with the Pencil tool, how to add and connect paths with the
Pencil tool and how to reshape paths with the Pencil tool.

Video 6 - Masks and Colors
If you want to enhance color in your illustrations and you want to
create different effects using masks, then this is a must see video! You'll uncover a wealth of
information on opacity, using opacity masks, creating transparency, editing a masking object,
unlink or re-link an opacity mask, how to deactivate, reactivate or remove an opacity mask and
how to clip or invert an opacity mask. You'll also go into great detail on how to utilize color
and the options available. This includes:

brushes in your imagery. You'll learn about brushes and the four types of brushes found in
Illustrator - calligraphic, scatter, art, and pattern. You'll have an understanding of the
Brushes panel and adjusting the panel to fit your needs, how to create or modify a brush, work
with brush libraries, apply brush strokes, draw paths and apply brush strokes simultaneously,
how to remove brush strokes and how to convert brush strokes to outlines.
Video 8 - Type
features
Video 8 guides you through the use of various type features, helping you to import text
into a new or existing file, creating text, entering text at a point, entering text in an
area, resizing a text area, changing the margin around a text area, raising or lowering the
first baseline in a text area and creating rows and columns of text.
Video 9 - Filters
and Effects
Video 9 looks at creating new effects and
applying filters to your illustration and design. I'll guide you through the steps you
need to understand all about effects, working with effects, applying effects, applying
effects to bitmap images, improving performance for effects, modifying or deleting
effects and going through the many different effectsh, such as 3D, Artistic, Blur,
Pixelate and many more.
Video 10 -
Importing, Exporting and Saving
When you reach video 10 you'll be guided
through the process of importing, exporting and saving. This tutorial is useful for
when you have completed work and you are ready to use the illustrations you've been
creating. By the end of this video you'll understand how to place files, view and
save metadata via the Links panel, restore a single missing link or replace link
with a different source file, embed a linked file and how to un-embed or re-link an
embedded file. You'll also have a solid understanding of how you can move
part of an image from Photoshop to Illustrator, move paths from Photoshop to
Illustrator, save your work in Illustrator format and finally export your
artwork.
